The Grinch!
Listening to: Ne-Yo - So Sick (Rhapsody Originals)

You know, I've never actually seen How The Grinch Stole Christmas. I know that's equivalent to a Chinese person having never eaten rice before (what, we love rice).

I do plan on watching it this holiday season with a healthy dose of A Charlie Brown Christmas and A Christmas Story.

The Grinch needs to steal himself some pants.

Balloon!
Listening to: Daft Punk - Around the World

I've always wanted to fly away in a balloon of some sort. I remember watching this episode of Mythbusters where they saw how many helium filled balloons it would take to lift a small child.

I think it was something like a bajillion.

Fashion Model
Listening to: Nothing.

This is a vector piece I did tonight of a woman wearing an overly large shirt of some kind.

Have you ever considered pronouncing the word "model" like the word "yodel"?

I haven't either.

Whistler's Mother
Listening to: Colbie Caillat - Realize

Here is an illustration of Whistler's Mother.

I don't know the background of this painting. I know that I could easily go to Wikipedia and look it up, but I have decided against it.

Instead, I have come to the conclusion that Thomas Whistler, which is what I'm assuming his full name was, hadn't enough money to take a photograph of his mother so he blackmailed a local art student to paint her instead.

I'll probably do something original tomorrow.

The Mona Lisa & New Goals
Listening to: Colbie Caillat - The Little Things (acoustic)

Here is a picture I drew of the famous Mona Lisa. I wasn't trying to mimic the exact style of the original painting. It was more so an exercise to do with my new goals starting today.

What is that goal? I'm going to try my darndest to do a colored illustration once a day and upload it here on the blog.

Yes, that's the goal.

We'll see how well I can do. If anything, it will get me drawing more.

That and trying to get at least one more game out by the end of the year. Maybe another comic too about the hierarchy within the community of servers in a dim sum restaurant: those with seniority get the better dishes like egg tarts and chicken feet because they've paid their dues and have moved beyond the life of rejection, like the newbies who have to try to serve fried shrimp balls and steamed vegetables.

Updated the Gallery
Listening to: Office workings.

Hello! I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving break and if they didn't, I hope they at least enjoyed the fact that they could sleep in somewhat and if they couldn't, well, happy weekend!

I created all the proper games pages in the gallery for the games that I've made so far (Turkey Trot 2007 and Boulder Run).

The photo that you see above is one taken from the anime convention I was a guest at. I laugh because I used to do what both those kids did. Ah, memories.

Happy Turkey Day 2007!
Listening to: Chinese commercials on the television.

Happy Turkey Day everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great and safe holiday (even to those blokes who aren't here in America, I hope you're enjoying your week)!

To commemorate the event and holiday, I decided to make a game called Turkey Trot 2007. It's basically a SmashTV clone, aka top-down shooter. The story is that you are Thomas the Turkey, a genetically engineered turkey to create plumper meat for the holidays, and a recent escapee from a major corporation's facility. You have gotten access to an automatic shotgun and Thanksgiving hat and will avenge your turkey brothers and sisters.

Try to get a high score!

My top score is 150.

Oh, and it's a PC only game (sorry Mac users!) and it's a RAR file (sorry WinZip users!).

Big Trouble in Little China
Listening to: Janet Jackson feat. Blackstreet - I Get Lonely (remix)

Good evening everyone!

I caught the movie Big Trouble in Little China today during dinner. I had purchased the DVD last year and never got a chance to watch it. It was one of those "price too low to pass" purchases... much like the Sesame Street Presents - Follow That Bird I got at Target today (it cost less than my lunch today).

I have to say that as a "cult classic" that it's a pretty decent movie. I also can see how exotified the whole Chinese thing was during the time it was created (early 80's). I almost feel that someone needs to make a modern day satire where instead of it taking place in Chinatown, it takes place in some super white town in the mid-west. So it would be a Chinese hero helping out the folks in Idaho or something.

Big Trouble in Little Nebraska or something.

Anyway, the picture is a quick one I drew of Lo Pan, who is played by the legendary James Hong. You know, James Hong.

Super Mario Galaxy
Listening to: The Killers - Daddy's Eyes

I recent purchased Super Mario Galaxy and I'm having a fun time with it. I hear you can beat the game with only half of the game's total available stars (you collect stars on each level to progress further into the game).

I wonder how much I'll play after the initial game is completed? Shrug.

Until then, please gander at this really ugly drawing of Mario I made with The Little Prince in the distance.

Also, the new The Killers album is not bad. They take some of the tracks from their Hot Fuss - Limited Edition album and record them again.

Treasure Hunter! The Card Game
Listening to: High and Mighty Color - Groover

Hey folks.

These are the card games that will be features in my first complete card game: Treasure Hunter!.

The basic objective is to find the one treasure card amongst all of the others. The game mechanic is flipping over cards that are face down, as if you were traversing the unknown parts of a jungle landscape to find it. It's made for one to four players too. Four players are quick games since, well, someone will probably die right away.

I'll be having sets of these at the anime convention this coming weekend.

I'll have the convention information on the site soon.

Zack and Wiki
Listening to: James Taylor - You've Got A Friend

I recently completed the excellent game Zack and Wiki for the Nintendo Wii. I had a great time (except for the second to the last puzzle that made me pull out 42% of my hair) with it and it was great.

Now I can start playing Eternal Sonata.

I also caught the movie I Am Sam this weekend as well. It's the first time in a while that I've been teary eyed from a movie.

Anyhoo, this upcoming weekend will be the anime show where I'm an "invited guest" to speak and exhibit. I'll have more online soon.
